Specialisation Verification Framework

The Department of Health and Aged Care have developed the Specialisation Verification Framework to ensure older Australians with diverse backgrounds and life experiences can access more reliable information when choosing their care providers.

To claim specialisation, providers must deliver care that is sensitive to the needs of diverse individuals and go beyong the standard obligations of the Aged Care Quality Standards.

Independent verification is required before claims to provide specialised care can be published on My Aged Care. In early 2023, provider specialisation claims that have not been approved will be removed from their My Aged Care profile.

Get Involved in Aged Care Reforms

Council of Elders member Danijela Hlis urges everyone to get involved in the aged care reforms that impact the quality of life of the aged care community. In order to achieve positive change and inclusion, older people need their voices heard and get involved in decision making.

The Australian Government Department of Health have created an Aged Care Engagement Hub which encourages older people to get involved to drive the reforms in Aged Care and contribute to a better aged care system.
